3D Viewer Workflow Features

One inspection workflow

3MF, GLB, STL, STEP, and STP files use the same local upload, preview, stats, and diagnostics surface. This reduces guesswork when the user only needs to see what is inside a file.

Warnings and errors are shown near the upload panel. Treat them as part of the inspection result, especially for STEP files, large assemblies, or 3MF files with unsupported metadata.

Conversion decision support

The viewer is intentionally separate from conversion. It helps check geometry, dimensions, mesh count, and parser diagnostics before sending a file to GLB to STL, STEP to STL, or the main 3MF to STL workflow.

Different formats carry scale context differently. Before converting or printing, compare the displayed bounding box with the expected physical or scene size.

Private preview path

Files are loaded in the browser for visual inspection. This is useful for product prototypes, customer models, or print files that should not be uploaded just to confirm their shape.

Use GLB to STL when geometry-only output is enough for a GLB asset. Use STEP to STL when CAD solids need tessellation. Use the main 3MF to STL workflow for 3MF print conversion.

Formats

Specs, inspection boundaries, and limits

3MF files

Use the viewer to confirm parsed geometry and dimensions before converting or slicing. Full production metadata, colors, and materials may not be represented in the first preview surface.

GLB files

Use the viewer to inspect self-contained mesh assets before deciding whether GLB to STL is acceptable. If texture or animation fidelity matters, keep the GLB as the source format.

STL files

Use the viewer to check triangle geometry and rough dimensions. STL does not carry units, colors, materials, or CAD history, so visual inspection should be paired with expected model size.

STEP and STP files

Use the viewer to see tessellated CAD geometry. If the file contains unresolved references or non-exportable structure, diagnostics may show why no mesh preview is available.
